Shakespeare Visits Helena Area Schools

Submitted by Claire McGuire on November 17, 2009 – 9:48 amNo Comment

The auditorium was packed Monday as many students got to forgo their second and third period classes for a rare opportunity to see live theater. Students watched as Romeo and Juliet the usually 23 to 35 actor show was preformed by a cast of only 7. The play was reduced to 75 minutes with minimal set pieces and props, yet not much of the magic was lost. Just as the pivotal fight between Mercutio and Tybolt was about to commence the voice of Ms. Hill and the announcements came on the sound system. Although the actors did a commendable job trying to fight through the laughs of the audience and Pledge of Allegiance from the office, they eventually took a quick break and resumed after the announcement had ended.
After the show was a question and answer session with some interesting and enlightening questions and other silly ones. The actors were very friendly and willing to answer questions and ran some workshops after the show, on things such as physicality and stage combat.
